Renting your Spanish property is a good idea to get some extra return on your investment. You have the option of letting your property for long term rent, a year or more, or short term which is for less than a year.

The easiest way of handling the renting of your property if you are abroad, is to hire the services of a Spanish Estate Agent. Most Real Estate Agents are prepared to take care of all the legalities for the renting accommodation in exchange of a percentage of the rent. You have to keep in mind though that if what you intend is to rent your property for long-term rent, the Spanish law will give the tenant automatically the right to stay for a 5 years period.

It wont be hard to find agents who speak English and other European languages, they will take care of everything that concerns your property, from showing the property to potential tenants to take care of the cleaning and maintenance, which is ideal if you do not live in Spain or don’t want the hassle of having to do it yourself. We recommend though to hire a legal registered Real Estate Agent which you will recognize for their A.P.I. (Agente de la Propiedad Inmobiliaria) distinctive, they will be able to take care of all legal procedures and draw up the contract for you, according to your terms and Spanish law.
